The British physicist explained why he is concerned about the potential that artificial intellect carries and what mistakes they could help rectify.<\/p>\n

The British scientist gave a conference this week on the occasion of the opening of the Leverhulme Center for the Future of Intelligence at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), dedicated to the study of possible implications of the development of robots and the artificial intellect.<\/p>\n

“Pasamos mucho tiempo estudiando la historia, que, siendo sinceros, en su mayor parte es la historia de estupidez”, afirm\u00f3 Hawking, citado por el portal Science Alert<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, despite spending so much time analyzing the past mistakes <\/strong>- the scientist lamented - humanity seems to make the same mistakes over and over again.<\/p>\n

“Por lo tanto, resulta agradable que la gente, en cambio, llegue a estudiar el futuro del intelecto”, explic\u00f3 el investigador.<\/p>\n

En su conferencia Hawking admiti\u00f3 que est\u00e1 preocupado por las “powerful autonomous weapons<\/strong>” y “los nuevos m\u00e9todos de los pocos de oprimir a la mayor\u00eda”, que conlleva el artificial intellect<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he warned that if humans start thinking about these issues now, technologies will have the potential to do good.<\/p>\n

“Tal vez, con las herramientas de esta nueva revoluci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica podamos aliviar el da\u00f1o hecho a la naturaleza por la \u00faltima, la industrializaci\u00f3n. Y, por supuesto, buscaremos erradicar las enfermedades y la pobreza”, explic\u00f3 Hawking.<\/p>\n
