Tax relief
Unless you dream of a solid mahogany Chippendale desk, in small furniture stores, outlets and specialized chains you will find very reasonable quality products at very competitive prices and with designs for all tastes. In addition, if you dedicate part of your home as a professional office and officially notify the Treasury (models 036 and 037), you may be able to deduct from VAT and personal income tax the expenses related to economic activity, under different conditions, according to type of expense, activity , tax regime or percentage of the dwelling dedicated to this use.

Condition the space

The first step is to choose the place to be used as an office, "a space where you can create an appropriate atmosphere that helps to enhance concentration," recommends interior designer Sonia Escribano, from the Vesta Proyectos studio. The ideal is a room dedicated to work, which should be:

Safe. Take into account all the safety tips for telecommuting. The Institute of Health and Hygiene at Work (INSHT) recommends “choosing ergonomic furniture”, leaving wide passageways and not overloading the plugs.

Isolatable. According to the INSHT, it should have "a latch or key, to control situations that may interrupt work and protect the task being carried out."

Quiet. Make sure it is "as far away as possible from noisy areas such as the living room," advises Sonia Escribano. The continuous sound level should be as low as possible and not exceed 55 dBA.

From cubicle to personal zone

"We must create functional work areas and personalize them, taking into account the activity to which we dedicate ourselves and our personal style, so that they invite their use and make us feel part of them," says Sonia Escribano. To achieve this, "we will seek inspiration, either by focusing on a specific decorative style or setting the area based on our hobbies or profession." These are some of their suggestions:

  • Colors. “I propose to bet on neutral and soft tones as a base: they create light, serene spaces that do not visually burden or tire the eyes. They allow you to introduce certain strokes of color that generate warmth and movement, very pleasant sensations when it comes to performing and improving the activity. Excessive contrasts transmit nervousness and lack of attention ”, explains this interior designer.
  • Distribution. “A good distribution and organization require correct planning. Be practical and bet only on what is necessary ”, he recommends. "Whenever possible, the table should be placed next to the window, but not in front, but perpendicular to it, so that the light does not fall directly."
  • In order. Remember that "order helps a lot to feel comfortable": a room with enough space to move and where the material is easily located.
  • Fountain:
