This may be something that is not widely known about it, but when a web hosting is hired, a web hosting account with a control panel is created cPanel included.
When creating the Hosting account a default email account is created by default that practically nobody uses, but what is prone to having large amounts of SPAM, so it is more of a "nuisance" and / or not very productive.
In cPanel we can see that they call it like this: "Default email account", but it is also known as "Default account" or "Account catches everything".
Default Account / Catch All Account
What catches everything is because all the badly written emails, sent to non-existent accounts or that are sent to an account different from the one we have created in our hosting management panel usually go to it and, over time, this account it is increasing its megabytes to unimaginable quotas ... most of your content is SPAM or missed emails of unimportant content, like the typical "Mail delivery failed" shown in this picture:
How to delete emails?
We can delete the emails from the default account from our Hosting management panel cPanel -> Email -> Email Accounts.
In the new page we must go to the option of "Default email account" and click on the option on the right side: "Access webmail".
How to proceed?
If the mailbox of the default email account takes up a few megabytes, it may not be necessary to do anything on our part, but if it takes up a lot of megabytes it could be a "problem" and as we say the best is disable it, after deleting and checking that all emails that have been stuck there are useless, lest there be any that we do need.
How to Disable the Default Email Account in cPanel
To deactivate it, we must log in with our username and password in our Hosting management panel (cPanel).
Access URL -> http://nuestrodominio.com/cpanel
Next, we must locate the block of "Email" and click on "Default address" as below screenshot shown:
In the new page we will see that there is a default option marked, as well as a domain selector.
To disable the default email account of the domain that we have previously selected, we simply must check the last box: «Discard (not recommended)», after previously clicking on “advanced options”. If we do not click on "Advanced options" we will not be able to view this option.
Once this box is checked, all you have to do is click on "Change". And ready!
NOTE: It is very important to remember to check your default email account every so often to make sure it is not taking up more than it should.
