In the interview, we chatted with Francisco Trejo Corona, who coordinates the digital efforts of LJA.MX

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am Francisco J. Trejo Corona, Digital Coordinator at LJA.MX, and before that at La Jornada Aguascalientes. I am also on the Third Way team, a magazine on human rights and progressive causes.

Journalist by academic training, but always interested in technology (from gadgets to business and startups) and on issues of social justice. I started my career as a radio and print media reporter, but my familiarity with digital media allowed me to implement social media strategies.

What is LJA.MX's goal in digital?

My brief years as a journalist allowed me to have a comprehensive vision of what a media outlet should demand from a digital area, even without having a formal bibliography or readings on the subject, since almost 10 years ago we were practically creating these roles and areas. 

The goal is to use digital platforms (of course, networks but with a pillar on the website) to spread our content to as many people as possible, with the best possible presentation and at the highest speed. All this with metrics to support later decision making on a reliable server.

How has KIUBIX helped you meet those goals?

The digital part of a communication medium, nowadays, inherently stopped passing through a Systems department (actually that was thought a decade ago) and rather requires collaboration between journalists, people with a product profile (CMS, Design, UX ) and technology providers like KIUBIX.

At KIUBIX they have allowed us to stop worrying about extremely technical or specialized issues, to focus on what we do best: content production and presentation.

What is the gadget or invention that has changed your life?

Definitely the smartphone. My information consumption has increased since my first Blackberry and apart is a kind of dog foodingIn other words, how are we going to improve our products at LJA.MX if we are not the ones who consume the most information in apps or the browser?

Not to mention that the smart phone made digital cameras and pocket recorders obsolete. It changed our lives, didn't it?
