Gerardo Ojeda is a developer at KIUBIX, currently working on the project of Kearnit, a learning and education platform on the cloud, developed entirely in KIUBIX.
In the following interview, part of our series the humans behind KIUBIX, We spoke with him to learn more about the project and also about his way of working, his vision about online education and general about what it means to be a KIUBER.
We share the interview
1. What is your role at KIUBIX?
A. Development of platforms for online education, support for backend development and I am the developer of Kearnit, the new online education platform for KIUBIX.
2. What training did you have or what did you study?
I am a graduate of the Technological University of Aguascalientes as an Information and Communication Technology Engineer, before that I was always in groups related to computing, but my greatest development was already as a worker in companies.
3. What has been your favorite project on KIUBIX?
My favorite project is Kearnit and I think it will be for a long time since for development in backend it is a very important watershed.
4. What achievement are you most proud of during your career at KIUBIX?
My most important achievement is having obtained the support of the company to carry out a project that I like, I bring all the creativity and freedom that they give me to decide on it to 100%.
5. What is the most curious thing that you have learned in the development of Kearnit?
A. The most curious thing is the project's ability to scale from a simple project to something really great. It is important to always raise the closest objectives and goals with the team.
6. What do you want people to understand about online education?
I would like today's teachers and students to understand that being at home does not lead to loss of education, but only changes the scenario.
That they understand that this is a revolution and there are ways to adapt, with the changes to paradigms about home education, which is very essential in these times.
7. What software or tools are essential in your daily work?
Internet, GitLab, Zoom, Sublime eTxt, Terminal.
In my case I use Ubuntu and there I set up my services with Google Chrome, the Google Suite and finally Youtube Music.
8. What is the computer and cell phone equipment of your choice?
I must always be with my cell phone, laptop (with external keyboard and mouse), and my headphones.
9. Your favorite part of working at KIUBIX?
The freedom they give me to decide on my project, the support given to me as a worker and as a person: they understand family and personal situations and there is always accessibility in this regard.
10. What do you think a person who wants to start offering an online course can achieve taking advantage of the fact that Kearnit already exists?
You can achieve a better understanding of how to educate through information technologies, be a more complete teacher, more qualified and eager to open your business or opportunity. Kearnit is for everyone.
11. Who do you admire?
A. To my colleague Yael Mercado, he always has a very positive attitude to any challenge within the company. It's a Mr brightside.
