Taxi drivers organize by whats to avoid assaults in Aguascalientes

Aguascalientes.- Given the increase in robberies of taxi drivers, they begin to protect themselves and warn of dangerous areas through WhatsApp groups, as they fear that the proximity of the fair this situation could worsen.

"We have always come together so that safety among colleagues prevails, whether it is organized crime or common crime, as in this case it was a solitary criminal who, out of the ambition to steal what this fellow taxi driver brought with him, armed himself with a knife"said Alberto López Huerta, general secretary of the state taxi drivers union.

This in relation to the murder that a taxi driver suffered in recent days in Balcones de Oriente by a criminal who wanted to take away his cell phone. López Huerta pointed out that although this has always prevailed and even the same taxi drivers in past years managed to stop criminals, you should not lower your guard.
He assured that years ago, thanks to the coordination between the union and the authorities, it was possible to arrest up to 15 people, who allegedly sought to rob taxi drivers.

He recalled that in addition to the murder of this taxi driver, also in Balcones de Oriente, days ago the police arrested a criminal who wanted to assault a taxi driver at gunpoint. He commented that there is no specific area where the assaults on taxi drivers occur more, but that they are already taken care of everywhere, either in the center or on the edges of the city.

He reiterated that there is no other way than to take care of each other, because for the fair the use of the taxi increases and although the safe taxi modules already operate, they do not rule out that the situation could worsen, so they even ask users to come to have fun at the fair, do not take taxis outside the module.
