Exercising our eyes

ojos-cansados

For people who spend several hours in front of the screen, exercising our eyes is important, to avoid fatigue, and keep them healthy. wikiHOW It has 10 interesting tips to do it, and here I translate them:

  1. Sit comfortably in a chair. Rub our hands until they are warm. Close the eyes, and cover them with the palms of our hands, without applying pressure, and in such a way that the nose is exposed, but that the eyes are in the "hole" that is formed by our palms. Let's make sure that no rays of light enter, and that there are no gaps between our fingers. Imagine, now, a deep darkness, and concentrate on it. Breathe deeply, while we imagine some happy incident, or some distant scene. After we see nothing but darkness, we remove our palms from our eyes. Repeat for 3 or more minutes
  2. Close your eyes tightly for 3–5 seconds, and then open them for 3–5 seconds. Repeat it 7 or 8 times.
  3. Close your eyes and massage them with circular movements of your fingers for 1–2 minutes. Making sure, whenever light pressure is applied; otherwise, we could hurt our eyes.
  4. Press 3 fingers of each hand against the upper lids, hold there for 1–2 seconds, then release. Repeat 5 times.
  5. Sit back and relax. Make a circular motion with your eyes, then counterclockwise. Repeat 5 times, flashing between over and over again.
  6. Sit 6 inches from the window. Make a mark on the glass at eye level (a small sticker, red or black, would be perfect). Look through this mark, and let's focus on some landscape, far away, for 10–15 seconds. Then focus on the brand again.
  7. We pick up a pencil in front of us at arm level. We move our arm slowly towards our nose, and follow the pencil with our eyes until we keep it in focus. Repeat 10 times.
  8. Let's look in front of us at the opposite wall, and let's pretend that we write with our eyes, without turning our heads. It can be difficult at first, but with a little practice it is fun. The bigger the letters, the better the effect.
  9. Imagine that we are standing in front of a large clock. Look in the middle of it, then at any time, without turning your head. Look towards the center again. Then we look to another "hour." Do it at least 12 times. Also workable with eyes closed.
  10. Focusing on a distant object (such as 150 feet away) for several seconds, and slowly refocusing our eyes on a nearby object (less than 30 feet) that is in the same direction, for several seconds. Finally, return to the distant object.
